The aid effort was led by Dave Walters, CEO of Central’s customer, DW Windows. Central lent one of its vans to Dave’s Help Ukraine Appeal, which was used to transport food, sanitary products, nappies and medical supplies to Poland, at the end of March. Dave collected donations from a local Asda, and his three DW Windows showrooms. He also set up a JustGiving page (see bit.ly/daveU) to fund the buying of further provisions while in Poland. Dave’s JustGiving page raised more than £10,000. “I want to do as much as I can for the Ukrainian refugees, centres and Polish organisations,” said Dave, who formerly worked as a Royal Marine and as a firefighter. “If I can transport people to safety when I’m there, I Unique Window Systems supports Glazing Summit Unique Window Systems has announced that it will sponsor the Glazing Summit Dinner for a third year. “We are delighted to be supporting important forums such as the Glazing Summit, which we feel contribute to the evolution of our industry,” said Sunil Patel (pictured), Unique’s managing director. will. I’d like to say a massive thanks to Central, and to everyone who has supported us and donated so far.” Separately, the European PVC Profiles and related building products Association (EPPA) has described the negative impact that war in Ukraine has had on the profile industry. “Beyond the immediately visible, devastating effects of the war, we can expect negative consequences for the PVC window market as a whole, in the medium and longer term,” the EPPA presidents said. EPPA leaders also stated that its members “have made great efforts to protect and support their employees, and other affected people on the ground,” using their existing networks and materials to actively support people in Ukraine. www.ggpmag.com | April 2022
