GUIDE TO DOORS An evolution of colour Colour is more than just a trend – it’s emotive, says Ellie Pool , marketing manager for DoorCo , detailing the reality of colour in the door industry. “Eye-catching choices are on the rise” L et’s take a step back to the 90s. The Spice Girls are topping the charts, Pierce Brosnan is the new James Bond, and PVC-U front doors are all the rage. Every street is a sea of white, minimalistic entrances. But as we move through time, composite doors emerge to the market and colour starts to make its debut in the form of red, green and blue doors – a real moment for exterior design. These initial colours were developed for the social housing market. But fast forward to today and the composite door offering has brought with it an evolution of colour, and a whole new world of possibility for homeowners. TRENDS AND TESTAMENTS Some colour trends are temporary while others appear to last a lifetime. As a composite door supplier that prides itself on innovation, it is essential to us that our Paint range has something to suit every moment in time. Right now, the stats tell an interesting story of fan favourites remaining ever popular and new takes on classic colours creeping up the rankings. As ever, grey remains strong, with anthracite, silver grey, agate and slate topping the colour charts: 34% of doors ordered so far this year feature grey of some shade. In a similar vein, neutral shades continue to grow in popularity. This isn’t unexpected given the shades of beige and cream we now see taking over our Instagrams. The ‘new grey’ nude shades such as Clotted Cream and Sandstone are starting to get as much love as some of our popular shades of grey, which could potentially mark the start of a new era of colour favourites. NO SUCH THING AS TOO MUCH CHOICE By ensuring our Paint range offers customers as much choice as possible – with standard, premium and custom colours available – we allow every customer to create an entrance that they truly love. Composite doors provide a blank canvas for expression. After selecting the style, colour and glass, you can create a design that is totally bespoke: a door that tells the story of the home, and the life within it, for all to see. > GUIDE TO DOORS ggpmag.com
